Drover’s Stock Dog Journal…

We are preparing for the AHBA Trial in Goldvien Va.Sept 20th.
Yesterday we worked on driving. I drove the sheep here and there and round the lanes. But the most impressive work according to Kay was when all 30 sheep packed into one holding pen. Then Kay sent me in and I brought them out. What I did was follow the inside of the pen and scoop the sheep off the fence and bring them out. It was a tight, tight bit of work. Kay encouraged me and Did IT! Kathy Hartley would have been pleased!
Today we gathered the sheep in the big field and I held them at the different spots Kay choose.
So while I waited for Kay to inspect the pregnant ewes…I settled down into the cool comfortable grass and laid still and watched! I was quiet and happy and still…Kay realized I was watching….
As I looked at the ewes, I saw Drover lying there…Still and tummy stretched out on the cool September grass. He was eying me and I would love to know what he was thinking. He looked like he owned the world and was pleased with himself! (I sure am!)
