Drover’s Stock Dog Journal…

Well another Sheep Foot Bath Party Today!
This one went much better for ALL of us!
We set up a new “L” chute made out of Pallets! Put the foot bath pans after the turn in the L chute and had we had a head gate. (will work on that more)
We need to add more foot bath pans (the sheep jumped if they had opportunity) and add at least 4 feet to the end of the chute that will be easy project! I did my part loading the sheep and insisting the sheep go on through. ( Kay allowed “I would not have argued with Drover if he told me to go in the chute!”) We got it all finished with out stressing any one (including the humans)
I am very pleased with the whole operation. I think with the corrections and additions Kay and I will be able to run this “Party” by ourselves the next time. (Plus we can do practice dry runs so the sheep get use to the idea)
I was allowed into the house to cool off afterwards and I am spending the night sleeping in the bathroom on the AC Vent !
Sheep are funny creatures…There were 3 I knew would give us trouble. And They did not disappoint me! They pushed all the limits. But I handled them. I only had to have assistance with the last one.

Drover is amazing and smart. He thought for himself and yet was willing to take instruction as needed from me.
***The away, come bye, walk up, there, wait, stand, get em and easy was invaluable in this work situation. Who ever said English Shepherds do not need to know this information…Never worked a dog on stock! ***
