My Great Aunt Grace

Great Aunt Grace was my Grandma’s sister. Grace was beautiful inside and outside, kind, loving, amazing grand lady. I never heard her once say one unkind thing about anyone no matter the situation. I asked her once how she could be so kind and gracious and she said” Kay I just pay them no attention, and really they do not mean to be so unkind with their words”  wow… I still think of her words…

Aunt Grace was a beautiful lady… She had a sparkle in her eye, a winning smile, charm … charisma …

A good cook like Grandma, and she loved to entertain, I still use her cheese ball recipe! And she had this wonderful porch that all ways had the most beautiful ferns! Many wonderful memories were made on that porch…

Grace loved her family and her God.

Great Aunt Grace was an amazing quilter. She made all her children a quilt as well as her grandchildren!  Many times she would say “Kay I think of you as one of my daughters! ” I was so honored for her to think of me as a daughter… Grace made me a quilt and gave it to me one Christmas! I was so honored. That beautiful quilt hangs in our hall. It is a Fan Quilt. With a special quilter secret.

Last week Grace’s youngest daughter Sally sent me a special gift.

In Grace’s bedroom she had two single beds and all ways had a beautiful white bedspread on each one. Grace made two fan quilts for the foot of each bed. They were given to two of her daughters. Sally got one. I do not know which daughter received the other one. That quilt was Sally’s special gift to me this past week.

I am so honored that Sally decided to entrust me with such a special quilt. I shall cherish this special quilt from Sally and Great Aunt Grace for as  long as I live.

Now to find the perfect place to show it to all that enter our home!
