Off in the distance…

Thunder is rolling. As the softly falling rain makes its wonderful music…and the smell of fresh rain…Then a large boom of thunder that shakes everything! Lightening displays the clouds in the summer sky. Oh for sure a Simple Country Pleasure!

I walked by the honey jar and stole a drop…I love fresh honey. When I was a girl my Grandpa kept us in farm fresh honey. It has been years since I tried honey and hot biscuits with real butter of course! Yum!

Life has been busy round Maple Grove Farm. We have a litter of puppies (8) total. They are so much fun. I love to watch their antics. Rolling, running, tripping, jumping…What fun they are. And they leave way to soon for me!  (I can say this because this is a good litter) Very biddable even about biting hands and jumping up!I am very pleased with this litter. We do have 1 female available.

I mowed today, the big field in front of our home. I used Kenneth’s amazing but bumpy small Kabota tractor. It is a very nice machine. I am so blessed to have such a good brother. The grass was real sticky and full of seed heads from the Crow Foot grass. What a mess!  But it is all mowed down now. I am hoping for good rain and lots of square bales of hay in a month of two.

Adam called from school. He is doing okay…Still hard for him to be away and I am sure he misses Ollie…I bet Ollie misses him too.  I am sure when he gets into the swing of school it will pass quickly! He is going to be a Farmer! I am so proud he is on a full scholarship! (Adam is one of my herding students) He has so much promise!

Les and I are busy everyday with projects. Our latest is fixing up the old stock horse trailer. He has done a great job on it and we are about ready to paint and go camping!

The farm is beautiful this time of year. Green, and thriving. Our sheep are all bred, and I am looking for lambs the end of October!

Toshia and I are working on the English Shepherd Calendar it will be for sale in October.

The Shepherds Cottage is doing great!

Our clinic with Jim Hartnagle next month is filling and our trial in October is being worked on! Ribbons to order, courses to plan!

All the trees we planted the first of July are doing fine. Some lost leaves, and one lost ever leaf but 3! Then God sent new leaves for that tree and it will be fine too! I am so amazed! God is awesome!

Our home is comfortable …and I have my sheep collection in my kitchen window that looks out into my flower garden! The Gold Finches have been enjoying my Zinnias! Maybe a bit too much. The Butterflies and Hummingbirds love it too. Mainly I have Zinnias and a few clumps of Black Eyed Susans.  This evening the puppies slipped into the flower garden! Reminded me of the movie Secondhand Lions…Where the old lion was in the corn patch!

We have a beaver on the pond and I have been paddling the kayak and checking him out. What fun the kayak is!

Drover and The Girls are  doing great! KAT is coming along nice and Montgomery is learning! We have a surprise to show you all soon…Photos I promise! 😉
