Learning…

In the work that I do…teaching dogs to herd…I have been learning so very much about how to be a better human being.

Like how the things we do affect the environment…Not just head knowledge but actual see the effects knowledge. Simple things like going to the creek that flows thru my family property and finding glass on the creek bottom or a can and such…How does TRASH get there I think?! From up stream some individual threw out something on the side of a road or in the creek and here it is miles away!

Or the power company that I am sure has me labeled as a crazy person. They spray every 7 years under the power lines to keep the trees and brush down. A power line crosses our mowed field . They were going to spray poison where my sheep live! NO NOT HAPPENING! NEVER WILL!  DUH! Spray that poison where there is something to kill besides my sheep and grass! Or better yet! HIRE a Shepherd to follow the lines and graze the areas needing to be cleared!

Then there are sheep that teach! WOW! How they teach …So many passages in the Bible are about sheep and The Good Shepherd. Well you cannot make sheep do anything. They have to be persuaded . I use my dogs to do this. But some sheep just seem to not learn. EVERY TIME  it is the same thing. I shake my head and laugh but oh we too are so like sheep!

Then the dogs…teach me. Goodness, humility, observation, caring, concern, love, obedience, hope, faith, persistence, joy, not to worry, how to live each day as it is my last…well you get the idea.

I have all ways been blessed. Though I did not think so. So many times I was saved from something. Or kept safe thru the something:-) I have all ways been able to do what I loved and love what I do.

I have to tell you all about the tree! Back in July we planted Crepe Myrtles in our yard. The one large one that ended up on the trailer on top of the others…caught all the hot air  from being moved at 50 mph. Well all the leaves but 3 fell off. I prayed for all my trees to make and do well. But this one was a symbol for me. That God heard my prayers. I know He does…but a girl…likes to know!  SO the barren tree in 2 weeks had small green leaves all over it! Not only that…but yesterday morning I looked out and it has BLOOMS! God’s way of saying I hear and answer your prayers! (Not ONLY mine but yours too) ! The Bible says you do not have because you do not ask! But God showed out in an awesome way! new leaves and blooms!

I learn to be kinder, to pay closer attention to others, to not be so quick to judge, to not judge at all! To see all sides, to look for reasons and then work thru the difficulty.

Who knew herding would be so helpful ! Drover and Kay on a early cold morning.
