Stand By Me…

I read my emails this morning. I had sent one late last night ***okay anyone that knows me at all …knows that likely I mean early this morning! well it was dark out:-) *** The email I sent was to a friend in the UK and we have never met face to face…but we have talked thru the years…When I read the email… God had put her on my heart with urgency to reach out…So I did finally hear Him! And obey ! This poem which is an old hym I grew up with came to my heart. So much so I had to write this blog NOW!
Written by Charles Albert Tindley born 1851 died 1933 (self educated) an amazing Methodist Minister and gospel song writer. The church he pastored went from 130 members to well over 10,000 (in 33 years)  He was born to a free woman and a slave father!

Hear the words…

STAND BY ME                            (from the UM Hymnal with some words left out)

When the storms of life are raging .

When the world is tossing me, Like a ship upon the sea,Thou who rulest wind and water stand by me.

In the midst of tribulation,

When the hosts of hell assail, and my strength begins to fail, Thou who NEVER lost a battle Stand by me!

In the midst of faults and failures stand by me,When I’ve done the best I can and my friends misunderstand,

Thou who knowest all about me stand by me!

In the midst of persecution ,

When my foes in war array undertake to stop my way

Thou who saved Paul and Silas Stand by me!

When I’m growing old and feeble,

When my life becomes a burden and I’m nearing chilly Jordan,

O’ thou Lilly of the Valley.

STAND BY ME!

I have all ways loved this song…But had not thought of it in years!  Blessings and Peace !
