Simple Country Pleasures…

The smell of an early fall morning. Fallen leaves, faint wood smoke on the light breeze, golden light streaking thru the morning sky…Oh the lambs softly talking with their Mommas, Sheep bells providing an accompaniment to the birds singing…and that wood pecker talking about his plans for all the trees in his forest… A magical special start to a day at Maple Grove Farm.

Drover, KAT, BOO, and Journey snoozing in their warm safe beds…wake happily as I walk out to let them out. They stretch and yawn, and are happy to see me and want to be all petted…Then they are off to check out the scents left by night visitors. And they take care of all their business…KAT and Journey start their play…

Les takes care of the wood stove… reads the bible…and spends quiet time with his Lord.

I take care of making our bed…spend some time just looking out the windows at the farm…marveling at all we are blessed with.

Each day is different and beautiful in its own way.

The trees are loosing their leaves fast…It is such a magical time. The colors are amazing…and the leaves on the ground are a fairy carpet. The beautiful bare limbs of the maple trees are starting to show off in the Maple Grove…

The dogs and I go check on our sheep. Journey is learning to go with me but has to be on leash. He needs to learn things the correct way so when his time for working arrives…he will be ready to teach. He spends most of his time attached to me or sitting quietly beside me. He is going to be a very smart Drover puppy!

Tomorrow we will have to run sheep thru the foot bath, check for parasites and give any necessary shots…

Gerry and I are going to train our dogs tomorrow. Mostly on the foot bath work…

Sunsets this time of year are amazing!
